Larry Chapman  
Larry Chapman was elected as Secretary/Treasurer of the Southern California District Council of the Assemblies of God in 1993.

Prior to this change in ministry, Larry and his wife, Jean, had served as Pastor of  Lancaster First Assembly of God since 1988 and as Pastoral Administrator since 1985.

Preceding his ministry at Lancaster, Larry served on staff as the Associate Pastor/Business Administrator for Bakersfield First Assembly for three years.  Prior to becoming Associate Pastor, he was instrumental in establishing and administrating the Stockdale Christian School operated by Bakersfield First Assembly.

Before going to Bakersfield, he served as principal for Arroyo Christian School in Livermore.  He was also actively involved in Livermore in the areas of Youth Ministry and Christian Education Ministry.

Early in his ministry, Larry served as assistant to the Executive Director of Transworld Mission which ministers throughout Central America and Mexico.

He received his Bachelor's Degree from Fresno State University and holds a Life Teaching Credential as well as a State of California Administrative Credential.  He completed Berean School of the Bible in 1977 and has been Ordained with the Southern California District since 1983.  Prior to his election as Secretary/Treasurer, he served the Southern California District as an Executive Presbyter.

Larry also serves as the Executive Director of Pinecrest Christian Conference Center located in Twin Peaks and Bethel Towers, a retirement facility owned and operated by the Southern California District. He is currently a member of Vanguard University Executive Committee (previously known as Southern California College) and Board of Directors, and serves as a member of the General Council Ministers Benefit Association Board.

  • Financial administration of the Southern California District Council of the Assemblies of God.
  • Administration of Pinecrest Christian Conference Center.
  • Administration of Bethel Towers.
  • Administrative responsibility with Departmental Ministries.
  • Administration of the Building and Loan Committee.
  • District Office Manager and Personnel Director.
  • Overseer of all insurance matters for the District and its corporate subsidiaries.
  • Overseer for possible legal liabilities in all District matters.
  • Updating and maintaining of the ministerial and church files.
  • Credentials, including renewals, first time applicants, the upgrading of credentials and reinstatements.
  • Active field ministry including the helping of pastors, boards, and churches maintain good accounting systems, proper corporate documents, files and proper insurance protection.
  • Administrative liaison for the RV-MAPS program for the Southern California District.
  • Administrative responsibility and oversight of the departments.
  • Preaching ministry.
  • Trouble-shooting for both churches and ministers.
  • Providing counseling to ministers and their families.
  • Presiding over business meetings for local churches and board meetings as requested or assigned.
  • Being involved in as many District events as possible.
  • Participating in out-of-district ministry as requested, including mission trips and General Council assignments.
  • Participating in District committees and social function.
  • Writing for periodicals and various publications.
