My Good Friends:

When our committee came up with our Youth Convention theme, we felt very much that the Lord had spoken to us. I AM-----stood for contrasting views of what the world and media says our students are (losers…unwanted…etc.) to what God says (that our students have incredible value and unique gifts to impact this would like never before). It is such a God-given, powerful theme we will continue its’ use through Winter Camps and all the way to Summer Camp!

Our speakers for this year’s three Winter Camps will do an amazing job. They are excellent speakers who can relate to students. They are very sensitive to the Lord as well as student’s needs. At our northern camp (Sugarpine) Nathan Kollar, our pastor from Santa Monica is a young power-house who will certainly be able to speak to the messages being sent to our students since he serves under the shadow of Hollywood. I encourage all our northern churches to go to this great camp. Not only will it be an incredible time but so often our churches travel to LA or San Diego for events. This camp is only 45 miles from Fresno so it is right in your backyard if you are north of the grapevine. Please don’t miss that camp. It will take place February 17-21.

The next two weekends - February 24-26 and March 2-4 we will head to our beautiful camp Pinecrest, to be with students this side of the grapevine. At Pinecrest 1-(February 24-26) our speaker is Tom Hammel, an awesome youth pastor from Victorville 1^st Assembly. Tom is a great speaker with one of the best testimonies I have ever heard. If anyone can speak to the theme I AM, it is Tom. Worship will be led by DJ Marx and his great band from Newbreak in San Diego. Finally at Pinecrest 2, (March 2-4) we have Jared Kirkwood, the youth pastor from Mariners church in Newport Beach. Jared is a graduate of Vanguard, an excellent communicator and the son-in-law of Mike De Vito (which naturally makes him great). Jared will also do an amazing job! The youth worship team from Cornerstone Church in Fountain Valley will be leading us in worship at camp.

With this lineup and this theme-it is going to be a great kickoff to 2012! All we need please is for you to pray for God’s spirit to move once again in the mountains and to send your students to Winter Camps 2012! Thank you so much for your prayer and support.
