Speed The Light

This time of year calls for an “All Out Blitz” in regards to Speed-the-Light.

Blitz:

When a team or group of people, join together and charge directly at a goal.

Goal:

To attack and obliterate the financial obstacle standing between us and the goal line where we purchase a Convoy of Hope truck.

Objective:

To raise the remaining balance of $69,000.00 needed while continuing to care for the needs of our missionaries.

Just One Day is a simple way that your congregation could give over $1,200.00 in ten minutes or less with not one person giving over $50.00! Please contact our office and I’ll get you as many sets of numbered envelopes as you request. If you need any promotional materials I will be happy to supply those to you as well! My office number is (949) 252-8696.

In order for our Southern California “team” to be successful, we need everyone on the field!

Thank you!

Blitzing together,
Drew

We get calls from churches who say they just can't get their students excited about raising money for missionaries, or that they just don't have any ideas of how to raise funds in this economy. Well please read on below to the STUDENT LED event where two of the boys together raised $1200.00 (more than many of our churches).

This will challenge you... It will springboard to other ideas... You will smile and how God can work through young people... They really don't believe anything is impossible PTL!

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to send these pictures off to you from our STL Talent Show!

We had such an amazing evening. Probably the BEST STL event we have ever had... seriously... had 170 people attend the event and all the students involved!!! AMAZING! These three are young men Tyler Paolino, Shawn Burlingame and James Wall.

It all started with our STL Rally back in March! They were challenged and the students "caught it" the Vision. They went back to youth group and sat and thought about ideas they could do to raise money for STL. They came up with the talent show, and then someone said something about shaving heads Tyler and Shawn decided to "take the challenge" and James came in later... and the games began.

Together they raised $1200.00... Tyler went to both Christian Club and FCA and Carlsbad High School and shared his vision.. he didn't get alot of financial support, but what a WOW when he went back and had actually a SHAVED HEAD! What a testimony and alot of courage for something he believed in! How many students would actually go through with the challenge... all this for their FAITH! The greatest thing about this event is it was student lead, they had all the ideas, came up with promotions, made the tickets and flyers, EVERYTHING. I did lead them and keep them on track and train them... but it was ALL them! Students are AMAZING!

Thanks for letting me share!

Quick Start Your STL Strategy — Keys to Having a Successful STL Ministry

Know the mission: “souls saved · lives changed”

Know the function: “essential transportation · creative communication”

It all starts with you.

One thing is for sure: if it captures your heart, you will find a way to make it a priority in your youth ministry. The following steps can help you ensure a strategic and eternally significant missions year.

  1. Visibility. Find ways to make the Speed the Light mission, function, and theme visible to your youth group throughout the year.
    • Use the STL calendar. Be intentional with your STL emphasis and spotlight.
    • Use the STL resources. On this STL_Digisource there are powerful tools for you to use to launch missions giving in your church. Use the videos, graphics, missionary testimonies, sermons, slide presentations, etc., to promote missions. Be creative in your approach, and dream big.
  2. Goals. Set quarterly and yearly goals with your students, leaders, and youth group. Kick off your goal-setting service with a STL sermon.
  3. STL Blitz. Launch a focused, intentional, and faith-driven missions drive. Dream big and follow the step-by-step outline for an effective missions blitz.
  4. Offerings. Give your students and your church the opportunity to give. Plan either weekly or monthly offerings to focus on presenting the challenge and renewing the focus on sacrificial giving.
  5. STL Sunday. Talk to your senior pastor about dedicating one Sunday morning service to the youth and Speed the Light. Present a challenge to the adults to come alongside the youth and help them do something great for missions. Take up an offering for STL at the close of the service. Consider bringing in your DYD, national STL director, or other NYM directors to preach at this service.
  6. Fund-raisers. There are more ways for your students to contribute than just through their personal allowance. Utilize their time, their energy, and their excitement.
